My family and I moved to the Dacula area in late September. As we drove back and forth to move our things into our new home, we would often take side trips. These “detours” yielded a treasure trove of sights to take in, and activities to try.
Dacula is rich in history too! On doing research, I learned that the first settlement here was known as Hoke, to honor a railroad official. The railroad did not want to continue with the name; so John W. Freeman, the first postmaster, suggested combining “Decatur” and “Atlanta” to get the current name, and it was incorporated in 1905.

I’m anxious to learn more, and experience all that this fine city has to offer. Thanks for reading! Paula Sado
